SAVING LIVES THROUGH VOCATION
SAVING LIVES THROUGH VOCATION
Seeds of Hope is a ministry serving teenage and young adults living on the streets in Kenya. Our mission is to build and support the development of a self-sustaining residential vocational school which will provide occupational skills training allowing these young adults to become employed, contributing members of their community.

WHAT ARE WE DOING NEXT?
In the first phase of developing the Vocational Center, we stressed building the infrastructure that would prepare us to bring young people to the center for training and spiritual growth. As we moved into the second phase, we began to focus on training the resident students and building appropriate facilities for future expansion. These phases are largely complete.
As we approach the next phase of development, we are looking hard at continuing the addition of better equipped facilities, such as a permanent dining hall and dormitory. While doing this, we will also add carpentry and plumbing to our vocational training.
Next up will be the replacement of our temporary dormitory. This building is seriously inadequate and in need of replacement. We are looking to raise funds during 2024 to hopefully begin construction of the facility to accommodate 23+ people.
We are also looking to add a self-dispensing water system enabling the center to sell water to other members of the community, and to add carpentry as a vocation by the end of the year. We are currently raising funds for tools as well as looking for a qualified instructor that can add these skills to the already growing skills of welding.
Further phases of the center’s development will include the provision of a home for the Managing Director and other mentors/trainers.
This is an exciting time for all of us at Seeds of Hope Vocational Centre. Thank you all for your participation.

DAVID KARIUKI -Founder and Director of Operations
David Kariuki will be leading our life changing efforts on the ground in Kenya.
David has previously acted as the director of Tumaini Children’s Home. David
lived the experiences of these children as a youth, but has gone on to earn his
Masters in Counseling Psychology.
There are over 300,000 homeless street children in Kenya – mostly teens with
very little, if any, education, no homes, family, means of support, nor hope.
These kids have little hope to “catch up” in an academic environment as many
have not attended school and would be relegated to a grade level untenable
to the other students and faculty. So they get lost in the system, get into drugs
and crime, live on the streets, and die prematurely.
But we can do something about it – based upon the successful model
established by Charles Mully in Kenya nearly 30 years ago. The model is to
teach vocations, not elementary education, to this group of forgotten teens,
including farming, masonry, cabinetry, carpentry, sewing, welding, and
custodial. David grew up in this environment, survived and thrived and is now
heading our mission in Kenya. Come be a part of his story of redemption, hope and faith!
Seeds of Hope is dedicated to seeing his vision come to pass.
